In this video we’re going to talk about why you should use Kickstarter to launch your product and this is a question I get all the time why did I decide to use Kickstarter to launch this product versus just doing a Shopify store or a Facebook launch of some kind and there’s a lot of reasons number one and let’s start off this may be the biggest one number one is there’s scarcity this is a psychological trigger there’s only days you only have 30 days to raise that money and this works twofold one it works for you because you know you only have days to raise that money which means we’re going to get your butt out there and get you generating money for your Kickstarter but two it works for every all your potential customers people that want to buy from you know that they only have days and if they if you don’t raise that money within days well that project’s not going to happen.
So if you really believe in some kind of a project in your on Kickstarter you need to support it ASAP the second part of this is friends and family if you’ve launched an online store there’s no real urgency if you launch an online store and tell your friends and family hey can you buy a product one there’s not really a lot of benefit why they would buy a product with Kickstarter you can say will you buy a product because then I’ll get closer to reaching my goal and everyone’s going to see it and every we’re going to see how I raise $15000, if it’s on your online store it’s private your people your friends and family aren’t going to feel is needed like they’re not going to feel like they need to do it with the Kickstarter they realize that you have this goal to raise for instance from you raise $10000.
So all a lot of my friends and family said wow that’s such an awesome goal here’s some money people that normally would not buy my product gave me money because they really believed in it. So there is some other things too you don’t need to spend a lot of money on it now if you’re starting a Shopify store or you’re launching in some other fashion it may be kind of expensive to get all the startup pod on the other hand if you’re doing a Kickstarter you can do it for fairly cheap I did spend these amount of money launching Performance Nut Butter but it was because I wanted to do it somewhat professional I wanted a good video I wanted a good product I sent out a bunch of free jars to people things like that you don’t need to now.
If you look at my Kickstarter for Performance Nut Butter I took pictures I made mock-ups of my products I didn’t even have a finished product I just took literally sticker paper and put it on the outside of other people’s similar type of product. So I’d say those are some of the biggest reasons on why you should launched on Kickstarter but there is one more those are the fourth reason discoverability Kickstarter people will naturally find things on Kickstarter even if you do not mark to them what I mean by this is when you launch a Kickstarter project people are actively looking on Kickstarter for whatever you’re selling or they’re actively looking at what are the newest project with that and I’d say close to 10% of my sales came from organic discovery on Kickstarter. So that’s an extra thousand dollars plus $59in my case they came just by being on fixer and now Kickstarter does take some fees I think it’s worth it it’s also a public record of look at how much money I raised. So from now on I could to publicly say to people I raised $, on Kickstarter where if I would have done it is a launch on a Shopify site or whatever and I did raise the same amount of money let’s say hypothetically which I don’t think you would let’s say I still raise the $, there’s not that stamp of approval.
