Tips for Adding Products to Your Online Store

 

In this video I’m gonna give you six tips for adding products your ecommerce store we’re going to talk about things that are going to make it. So people may come to your site they’re more likely to buy your product enhancements that you can make on your product page. So the six tips I have for you the first one is to do keyword research will talk about in depth why this is. So important later in this video the next is to make sure that your products your SEO properly and give you some tips about that then we have good product description why that’s. So important high quality images big images and multiple angles. So we’re gonna talk about all these in this video why they’re important and some tips on how to make sure that you do these properly. So the first one I have for you is to do your keyword research now what should your product be name is a classic question there’s a good chance that you think the product should be called one thing but your customers think it should be called another thing. So my example here is these are the same product but some people would call this a highway show up some people would call it a foldover short which one should I call it well the answer is whatever one has more views more people are searching for a month and the way to find this out is through keyword research I have a link down below on how you can do keyword research properly but basically what you’re going to be doing is using the google keyword planner to figure out how often things are searched.

 

So how often is high-waist shorts search versus how often is fold over short search turns out the winner is highway shorts. So that’s why I went up there next up is to make sure your products are SEOs properly. So on page SEO is crucial when you’re adding products to your store now the SEO the on-page SEO for your product page is one of the most important spots to do it and I have once again a whole video on on-page SEO I’ll put a link to that is well down below you can search for my channel as well but the like I said the whole video is  below just to reiterate on-page SEO is extremely important you want a hat make sure you do it you sign up for my e-commerce success pack I have an SEO checklist as well. So the product description is actually tied into on-page SEO but it’s more than that. So the first part is you want to make sure that your product description is SEO friendly what this means is two three four sentences with the keyword that you’re trying to rank for sprinkled in a little bit make it look natural but ultimately it should be a few sentences but it should talk about the benefits not just the features of your product this is something that humans are going to be reading the people coming to your website are going to read the project descripstion before they buy if it’s boring you know they might still buy it they might not but it’s really good it’s going to engage them the longer you can get someone to stand your website the more likely they are to click that buy button if you can make them laugh create a little bit of a connection that’s even better.

 

So make it engaging make it unique I’ve seen lots of different product descriptions and you can tell that some people really care about the products and other people don’t really care. So make sure you are one of those people that actually care about your products and write a good description next I’m will talk about is high quality images and the first thing I’d say about this is don’t skimp hire models if you need to hire models or get a photographer needing a photographer I’ve been lucky when we take product photos for our products we’ve been able to get models that are friends of friends of friends and we have photographers that are also friends of friends. So if you can you know maybe you have a friend that’s a photographer maybe you know someone that would like to be a model but the original photos we took for our products were awful we took them ourselves we took them on a non-model person in it really makes a big difference. So don’t skimp on this aspect I recommend it it’s benzyl your product is but I recommend actually going with a real photographer the next thing is if you want to you could always buy stock photos maybe you have a product that’s fairly similar to other things that are out there. So that can be an idea for you like we did sell a pair of dance pants and we didn’t have time to take photos for it. So we ended up just buying a stock photo of someone in Hansel very similar to what we’re selling and that tide us over until we were able to go actually do take photos ourselves but I recommend taking photos with actual humans in it in fact you might think that your product doesn’t need a human in it my products are clothing.

So obviously it’s good to have a human wearing it and it sounds really funny saying it this way but you want people in your product pictures. So one example I have a story about this I had a buddy that was selling fans little handheld fans you see you know sometimes theme parks people have and he was selling them and originally he just had the fan the picture the fan but he ended up getting a model a very good-looking model to hold the fan and his product sales triple just because there was an attractive woman holding the fan. So think about how you can do this with your site how you can make your pictures even better the last thing I will say is depending on what kind of product you have chances or you want a white background I actually have some friends that started a company called pixie and basically what you do is you send you take a picture of an item doesn’t even need to be on a white background and they’ll cut up the image of the picture and they’ll give you that picture with a white background. So let’s say I were to take a picture of this little pointer right here what they would do is they’d be able to cut out just the pointer and put it on a white background and you need to have a white background on amazon and i recommend from most products a white background on your ecommerce store as well. So that’s enough about high quality images but let’s talk about big photos. So another mistake I see people make is really tiny products photos usually generally speaking within reason bigger is better I mean I don’t think you want it. So big that it’s you know way below the fold but you don’t really want it small and you can see more detail on bigger photos you one of the big things on your product page is people want to know what it’s like to own this product and if they can see a lot of detail it’s a little bit easier to realize like what would it be like to own it feels like they’re actually examining the product.

So I got a little demonstration which one would you rather buy this little teeny product photo or this really big one like instantly you’re like I want that bigger one that just that’s what I want and remember on your products page the photo is really what they’re trying to buy they’re trying to buy that thing in the photo they don’t care about the bullet points they don’t care about the description it’s important don’t get me wrong but the main emphasis and the main focus should be on the photo. So make sure that it’s big and powerful next up is multiple angles doesn’t matter what kind of item you’re selling you want to have multiple angles. So here i have an example of some shorts or selling and once again the consumers going to look at it and say like what’s it what’s it like to own this product what’s it gonna be like.

So they want to know what does it look like in the back what it look like in the front even if you’re selling a different type of products when you go to the store and you buy something you pick it up you feel it it’s three-dimensional use all very unconsciously but you know before you put it in your car what is it going to be like to own this they can’t do that online the only way you can somewhat replicate this is by adding multiple angles. So I highly recommend adding multiple angles as well.
