In this Video, we’re gonna talk about advanced store setup. So by this point in the course you should already have your site ready for the most part it should be at the point where people could buy from you if they wanted to it’s not gonna be perfect but that’s the whole point of this course is that you’re going to iterate. So you’re gonna put up your site it’s gonna be basic and then we’re gonna go into the SEO then we’re gonna do the advanced store set up things like that. So what are we going to talk about in this module well here’s some of the things we’re going to talk about one of the first things we’re going to talk about is how to set up the support pages what I mean by this is about us things like that some of the other things we’re going to talk about is customized automated emails email capture category pages optimizing for conversions and the retail setting up a retargeting pixel. So let’s dive into all these a little bit. So you know what each of these different lessons will be about.
So the first one we’re gonna talk about is setting up the support pages. So what do I mean by the support pages I mean things like the about Us page the contact us page FAQ and all the other pages like that these are things like the shipping policy any page that isn’t necessarily directly related to purchasing these were these are what I consider support pages and there’s a lot of customization that can be done this is where you can stand out this is the pages where you can really differentiate yourself from the big companies out there. So we’re gonna dive in deep on how do you set up these pages the next thing we’re gonna talk about is customizing your automated emails what I mean by like automated emails is the thank you email that’s sent after someone buys from you and any kind of follow-ups that are automatically sent by Shopify or whatever shopping cart you use and I’m gonna read to you CD baby’s famous thank you email and if you’ve ever wondered why I thank you email is. So important you wonder why this is a lesson listen to the CD Baby thank you email that sent and tell me tell me what you think afterwards the thank you email is a spot where you can really stand out from the traditional big-box retailers.
So you really want to customize it also another thing to keep in mind is don’t let your funnel end when the thank-you email sent out and other pages like this you want to use it as an opportunity to promote your social media to keep people in your ecosystem the next thing is setting up an email capture and this something you should start doing pretty much right away there’s no downside to setting up an email capture I recommend giving away something it doesn’t have to be anything big you know you could give away a discount if you wanted to I prefer not to I prefer to give away for instance in my store we yeah we do a DIY guide it’s really up to you and what you want to give away a lot of people give away simple things like checklists will dive in deep into the different things you can get give away I recommend using tzunami it’s really cheap it’s I think bucks – bucks a month depending on what package you want and it’s gonna add more money to your bottom line and this is what one of the email captures would look like they have a little scroll box this is the one I actually use on my website well dive in deeper to this in the email capture lesson.
So the next thing we’re gonna talk about is category pages and the important thing to remember is category pages only have one job they present a whole bunch of products but the real job is making it. So the user can select just one product and I’m gonna give you some tips and tricks on how you can make that happen how you can set up your category pages. So people can ultimately get to your products and purchase from you because category pages don’t make you any money it’s only the product pages that make you money. So how do we get from a category page to a product page I’ll give you some tips and tricks on that we’re gonna also talk about there’s a whole lesson it’s gonna be talking about how to optimize confer conversions and this if I only have one lesson I can give to the people watching this your store is not about looking pretty it’s about making you money it’s about converting. So we’re going to talk some different tips and tricks on how you can optimize for conversions one of the big overarching themes you’ll hear when I talk about this is don’t make me think and this is a principle you should use when designing your site you don’t want your users to have to think at all they should be able to figure out what they want to purchase with very little thought on their part you know maybe that means making it very easy for them.
To figure out what size what color they’re gonna get or you know whatever kind of product you’re selling you want to make it as easy as possible for those people to figure out what they should buy because if they have to decide between two things they might just get frustrated and leave. So some other things is adding the Add to Cart button above the fold ties in with the whole don’t make them think if they have to search all over your website where’s the Add to Cart button that’s not good you also want to make sure your Add to Cart button pops and another thing we’re gonna talk about is adding your phone number to the top of the website or somewhere prominently on the website this creates trust as does adding trust symbols things like the this site is Norton secured or other things that make the people feel like this is a trustworthy store you know at the time of recording this it’s but some people are still worried about buying online and I don’t blame them I could easily set up a fake store and con people I would never do it but there’s some people out there that would. So you want to make sure improve to people at your store that you have a real store that it’s you’re an authentic company I make make yourself as trustworthy as possible next and the last thing we’re going to talk about is setting up a retargeting pixel and I don’t necessarily recommend starting to retarget.
Right off the bat there’s there’s some things you can do right from the beginning but no matter what a hundred percent you need to set up your pixel I everyone that knows what a retargeting pixel is will recommend setting it up and all this basically does is you put a little little snippet of code and I’ll show you how to do this it’s super simple snippet of code on your website and it’s gonna start collecting data on all the people coming to your website then at some future date if you want to you can actually retarget those people. So if you come to my website you might notice that I have little banner ads following you all around the internet wherever you go that’s retargeting.
