How to Find What People Are Searching For To Trigger Your Adwords Ads

In this video I’m going to show you how to find out what keywords what search queries are triggering your ads this works both for product listing ads and for regular text ads one of the first things we’re gone have to do though is hopefully you’ve done this before for your account if you haven’t then go ahead and select any time frame that you want but I have done this before and I see the last time that I did this was January third I keep this spreadsheet as a log of the changes I make there’s a bunch of different stuff that I use within this spreadsheet it’s basically keeps track of all the changes I make within my AdWords my PL a’s but right now the main thing I’m going to use it for is finding out the date the last time I did it was January third. So I’m going to start with January fourth I’ll show you what I’m talking about here. So I go in here and go to January fourth and then to today I’ll probably go to the 25th yes. So that’ll get all the data from January fourth to April twenty fifth and the reason I’m doing just that data is I don’t want there to be any overlap because if I go back farther than January fourth some of the negative keywords I would have already I would have already found an art he would have added. So i don’t want to have to do double the work. So from there we’re going to go to acquisition we’re going to go to AdWords and then search queries alright. So now you can see all the different search queries if you want you can add the secondary dimension advertising ad group or campaign I’ll probably do campaign here just. So we have that data I think that’s interesting and then from there what we can do is we can actually instead a show rose make that five thousand. So you can see all of them give it a second here all right then I like to put it in descending or actually I guess its descending order I’ll show you what I’m talking about click it again. So right now it’s highest to lowest we want actually lowest to highest as far as finding negative keywords alright. So that’s perfect then we’re going to go up here to the top export it as a CSV this just makes a little bit easier to work with all right at this point we see all the negative all the keywords that have triggered our ads and the reason I put it in ascending order. So if the page is procession here are  that means that there’s a high chance that people clicking on our ads aren’t interested as compared to like at the bottom we see people click someone clicked on this ad using this search query and we can see that they’re obviously really interested because they went to  pages in that session. So we might want to use these keywords down here at the bottom to find other keywords to target and it’s especially advantageous first thing for instance like this is a product listing ads I indicate that with the PL there but men men’s dancer our pants I’m currently not targeting this in my regular text ad words I’m but my product listing add was able to find it. So maybe that’d be a good target but mostly what I’m going to use this for is finding negative keywords here. So that’s it for this video let me know if you have any questions about this down in the comments below basically in the next video I’ll talk about how you can use this data to find negative keywords.
